Nouveau Souffle, a podcast which champions regenerative business practices, recently interviewed the UniOne Academy co-founder, Laurent Ledoux.
In the aptly titled episode “Engaging in the regenerative company through a path of consciousness”, Laurent shares his experiences as a conscious leader.
What is regenerative business?
The World Economic Forum defines regenerative business as “a strategy that promotes the restoration and regeneration of natural resources and social systems.” It clarifies that regenerative business is more than sustainability. Regenerative business “seeks to create positive impacts on the environment, society and economy.”
Conscious leadership and regenerative business
While speaking with the Nouveau Souffle host, Romain Cristofini, Laurent points out how leading with consciousness is strongly aligned with regenerative business because it focuses on positive outcomes beyond profits. It follows the same philosophy of looking beyond the ‘me’ (‘my company operating in isolation, profits-focused’) to the ‘all’ (‘my company operating in the context of society and the natural world, profits and positive outcomes-focused’). Laurent argues that achieving an elevated consciousness can lead to a kind of rebirth of sorts.
“A company can only be truly regenerated if the people who work there are aware that it implies a symbolic death, the death of their attachment, or identification to their ego.”
This episode invites decision-makers, leaders, and entrepreneurs to ask themselves whether they are sincere in their motivations to be regenerative. More than that, however, it offers changemakers (who sometimes doubt and exhaust themselves) the opportunity to take a breath and reflect, reaching inward to elevate their consciousness. Thereafter, they will find themselves acting with accuracy, clear-headedness, and a renewed sense of purpose.
